I love being a part of what God’s doing, and this night was another good one. Great work on putting this memory to paper! I’ve been reminded lately about the need for “memorial stones” in my life to remember what God has done, and this is a great example. I love the focus on ‘addiction’; we were clearly made to worship, and it’s beautiful to see ourselves and our friends being changed from worship of the world, or worship of God’s gifts, to true worship of Him.

This is great stuff Jeff. Thanks so much for sharing. I particularly love this point you make about Dewey’s new life in Christ: “His addictive personality has been redeemed and redirected.” I think the story of God and humanity is one in which God does exactly that. He is in the business of redemption and redirection. Love it. Thanks for writing this!

I love this man. It was really cool to read this post after posting about the same topic on my blog. God is speaking this to the church right now. Learning to live from “being” and not from “doing.” Your last paragraph is especially good. We are meant to live from the rest and the peace that we often experience at “camp,” not from the distractions we get so lost in. Love it. Thank you for this post.

Awesome Nicole. I too, have been challenged to really take a look at what Christ did for us. I believe it was much more than an excruciating physical torture but that he experienced hell for us so that we wouldn’t have to. Jesus actually experienced himself being separated from God, which is so hard for us to grasp…

Awesome post Laura. I too, have struggled with worry and anxiety to the point of being crippling in some periods of my life. What a joy it is to know the God loves us incredibly and has the best for us. The times where I experience the most peace are the times when I know that I am living according to God’s will and in line with His Spirit. I also look back at the difficult times of being in bondage to anxiety, and I know I wouldn’t give it back for anything because it was those times that I grew so incredibly close to the Lord and learned to bask in his presence.

David definitely realized God is deeply involved in our lives. Due to divided hearts, our generation often forgets this. That is why verse 11 is so epic. He becomes our hearts one true desire through mercy, through faithfulness, through grace, and through love.

“Teach me your way, O LORD, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.” (v 11)

That fires me up. “Alright, God, let’s do it. Let’s take a stroll.”

I worry when there’s a big task ahead. But I don’t cling to money. I pray alot. Talking to God helps relieve some of the weight.
